Sophistication

Sophistication
Probably one of my most favorite shots ever.

After this shot I started a list of cars I would like to photograph.
My main hope is to get my most favorite car of all time.

Porsche's "911 Carrera S type"

And nope I didn't have to look that up.
Yes, I am that big of a nerd.

If your wondering what my chances are.
There is within 10 miles from my home, the Porsche dealership for the greater Chattanooga area.

Yeah.

Spec's
Canon 350, 28-105mm f3.5-4.5
focal: 105mm
aperture: f4.5
shutter: 1/320
ISO: 100
time: 5 hours ago.
Special stuff: Converted to b/w cropped, clarity added, and black upped. Done in Lr.

Oh, for those who don't follow anything car related, this is the hood ornament to a Jaguar S type year unknown .
And yes, people did walk by. And yes, they where wondering what I was doing.

Juicy Juicy Juicy

This is from a basketball game that I shot last night.  FSU vs. UNC.  We lost.  Am I surprised?  The answer to that riddle my friends is no.  Last second buzzer beater, 80-77, in case you were curious.

My camera is obviously a Nikon D40
This is the Cleveland Clinic building a few minutes away from where I live
I edited the curves (mostly blue and red) in gimp to give it that vintage-y look that I like [too much] :P And to give it a little contrast

D

D's idea, which is weird.  He normally hates having his picture taken but today he was eager to take this one.  I thought it was pretty funny, having him "pray" while he was wearing his gangster hat and jacket.

Location was my house.  More specifically, in my living room.

Photoshop ninja secrets: "Maybe...This Time" action.  I made this for use with portraits.  Desaturates and exaggerates highlights, adds red tones to the shadows, blue to the midtones, and yellow to the highlights.  If you have photoshop cs2 or above let me know your email in the comments and I'll send you the action.

Spitfire

Alright-y then.

This shot was taken today. And the location is somewhere around my neighborhood.

I really like that Reid added the spec's to his photo's
So I'll add mine.

Canon 350, 28-105mm f3.5-4.5
focal: 105mm
aperture: f4.5
shutter: 1/80
ISO: 400
time: 5:00-5:30
special things done: Shot B/W in camera, and converted to cyanotype. Then layered photos of trees and red paint spots.(those where photographed by me)
Oh, and all that was done between Lr & GIMP in anyone cared to know.

Also, I know Nick I'm really sorry, I've not gotten the labels up yet, but I'm putting them up today. So the labels Nick came up with:

indoors,
outdoors,
antique,
architecture,
wide angle,
macro, nature,
city/urban,
landscape,
black and white,
night, portrait,
people,
long exposure,
candid/humor,
animals,
sepia,
food,
abstract,
event.

So I'll go ahead an add those. You'll also notice I added our names.

If you have any more let me know via here or email.

Ps, I'll let you go back and label your own posts, because I've no idea what you'll want to label yours as.

Lovers of Loving Love

So...I bought a d300 from B&H last week, and it came in the mail yesterday!  I haven't had time to fully play with it yet, as the LOST season premiere was on last night, so obviously my night was full.  Hopefully by next week I should have some pictures from it.

On another note, I was thinking that it might be useful if we included basic information about the photos; like what lens we used, and basic exposure information.  That way we might be able to better advise on how to fix photos/be able to see how people did what they did.  Feel free to shoot me down on this one if you want.

Both of these photos are from a wedding I shot with a photographer in Tallahassee last November.

are you kidding me?

Any idea why this looks like this? Its supposed to be the Jefferson Memorial... buuuut
instead its... i dont even know.
I saved it as a png and that usually isnt a problem.
now im annoyed.

ANYWAYS
this was what i was going to say:

I took this last April when I went to DC with the school I was in at the time. I figured with the big inauguration and excitement over there, it was kind of appropriate :] In other words, I have nothing else and the inauguration made me think of DC obviously xD and this is one of my favorites

No recent photos yet because as some of you already know I had some computer viruses that were giving me grief for almost a week, lol. So I had to restore my computer and I installed Windows Vista and now I have no idea what im doing xD I had to reinstall everything
aaand yeah.
its crazy, lol.

but you cant see the picture
sooo
heres the crappy jpeg version

Re: Monday (Missed) Post...

Hey guys, Mr. Tim here.
I am sorry I missed Monday's post. I was swamped with school and such, and was unable to post for that day. Which brings up the question, do I post the next day (being Tuesday), or post two image posts next Monday? This is something I have been wondering since we started. And (I would think) this applies to every.

Thanks,

Here is one image to make up for Monday,
Enjoy

I will follow you into the dark

Hullo, I'm Brian.

I'm 18, and I live in the Chattanooga area.
I discovered my passion for photography about a year ago, and have been pursuing it ever since. So far I like to shoot objects and wide angles.
(No people for me - too much to clean up afterwards.)
I really would like to get into studio photography and am currently saving for some lights.

Other than photography I like to pursue other things like:

Leather tooling.
GIMPing. (too poor for PS -- you know the whole starving artist thing and all)
Researching.
Chess.
Bonsai'.
Reading. (mostly classics)
Annoying one of my four (soon to be five) siblings.
Water coloring. (new thing don't ask)
Drawing.
Sleeping.
Eating.
Breathing.
Living.

Well, I think that's it. We've had a great first week; can't wait for the next week.

Ps. For all participating in project pentad, I'm really sorry I've not answered any emails or fixed up the site at all. By now I'm assuming you all know about my current predicament. Well, I should be better in a couple of weeks -- at I least I hope so. :)

Cherry Blossoms

Hello all,

I hope you will all bear with me as blogs are not my forte, and hence I'm mostly winging it here and hoping it looks correct when I hit publish.

I'm in my second year and Florida State, and incidentally am Brian's cousin, which would explain how I came to know him.  Or rather how he came to know me.  Nonetheless, I am studying photography and graphic design.  I shoot freelance for the University's newspaper, and do other stuff when I feel like it.  Sometimes I go dancing, and sometimes I eat tacos.  But that's neither here nor there.

I also got a Rubik's cube for christmas.  I've been playing with it a lot lately.  I beat it twice with the aid of the instructions.  I'm not sure if that counts.

The picture I included is from a football game this past fall, FSU's homecoming game against Boston College.  The Coast Guard did a flyover while the Marching Chiefs and the alumni band danced and tooted their merry horns on the field.

I also have a website if anyone is interested in perusing that, I would love to hear what you think of it.  http://www.reidcompton.com

So, it is a pleasure to informally e-meet all of you, and I look forward to seeing lots of pictures.
Cordially,
Reid

open up my eager eyes

I'm Emily, I'm 16 years old (almost 17! lol) and I live by Cleveland, Ohio. Unfortunately where I live is rather ugly, which makes me all the more jealous of Tim and Nick's stunning winter landscapes ;] This is probably going to end up longer than I planned because that always happens xD but oh well.

Some random facts about me:

I shoot with a Nikon d40 that I saved up all summer for. I've had it over a year now and I love it :] Of course I cringe a little every time i see an ad for it in the papers lower than what i paid for mine in steady $50 decreases, lol.
I tend to use the word "awesome" way too much.
I also abuse smileys like xD and x3 and :]
I usually forget a lot of stuff. But I remember the stupidest things. I blame school. I think its melting my brain cells.
I almost forgot it was my Project Pentad day. I was walking to the kitchen earlier and i went "AH CRAP" lol. Because, I will admit, I didnt have a photo until kinda last minute. But I have an excuse. :P I was dog-sitting my pastor's dog all morning and I was going to take some pictures of her because shes adorable. Aaand I got there and realized my camera was ON. It had been on all night since I had loaded my Project 365 photos from yesterday. So the battery wa fried and I was bummed. and theeeen I forgot to charge the battery or take any photos. But I remembered!! And here I am.

As you can probably guess, I'm one of those last minute people, lol. Sometimes this is okay. Other times, it is not.

My new years resolution is to actually stick with project 365 this year. I failed pathetically at it last year and didn't even bother trying to catch up. But this year I'm determined to actually go through with it. Of course negative things could be said about my determination but I won't go into that :P

I like my 55-200 mm lens because 1. its awesome. 2. the depth of field is always better and 3. it adds a natural vignette around my photo and i just love that ^_^ Buuut when its the only thing i have, I like it a lot less, lol. My 15-55mm "broke" last year and I went on a whole 2 week vacation with nothing but my 55-200 D: not awesome. lol. And those are the only two lenses that i have.

When I'm older I want to go to a photography school and be a photographer proffesionally. I'd prefer something in the music or magazine industry but I love almost anything to do with photography. I just dont know where to start. o.o"

I'm really excited about Project Pentad :] I love seeing other peoples photos and it's especially cool because you guys are all around my age and take amazing pictures. So I really enjoy seeing your photos and being able to ask questions and get advice because you all know more than I do xD

Sooo I guess thats it :]
I can't wait to see everyones photos
And feel free to critique any of mine, tell me what I could do better, or what you dont like, or even what you do like, thats cool too x3

Boxes

Hey everyone, Nick (NP) here.  I shoot photos.  I do other stuff too, but mainly that's it.

"About me:"

I'm a mac.

I'm a pc.

I like to shoot people.  Not literally though.  With my camera.

Yes, my camera is officially called the "Hammer of Thor"

If I had a dollar for every person that read this, I'd have $6.25.

I have a cool dog.

A big thanks to Brian for setting this whole thing up.  I've got to say I'm pretty excited to see everyone's photos.  Good luck to everyone!

Buses and Taxis From Rooftops

Here we go! Project Pentad is officially on it's way! I feel honored to be the first to represent it. I am looking forward to a great week ahead of us, full of stunning images!
