The Abacus of Fire!

This is an abacus.  It used to help people count before machines did it for them.  Then all the people disappeared, because they couldn't offer anything useful that the machines hadn't already created.

P.S.  I slipped in a post (late as usual) for last thursday, but I fear it has gone unnoticed.  This is your notice.

Cops and Robbers!

These two photos are not related in any way, other than they just both happened to be shot on the same outing.  The former, a photo of a bank of america which was robbed just before (unfortunately, the robbers left before I could take pictures of them) and the latter a picture of the bar that won best bar in tallahassee.  Or something like that.

All right-y then, I sort o' feel like talking.

Lately I've been reading this. So that's why you got the above and this. Before reading the landscape book, I'd never though to shoot landscapes with a super wide aperture. I've also been working on shooting more. When we go out and I do some shooting I'd usually get in around 50 shots. Now I'm pushing 150 -200 per shoot. So yeah I'm happy with that. But what I'm not happy about is the amount of space on my left on my hard drive.

So with that in mind, here's David duChemin's backup solution. I really like his setup, but I've got no where near the amount of cash to set that up. So for now I'll stick with burning my cd's.

Oh, Canon released a new Rebel series camera this week. The new "EOS REBEL T1i." It's Canon's version of Nikon's D90.(You know with video and all.) Which means since I got my XT 1 year and 3months ago, three I repeat 3 rebels series have been released. Plus this puts the Xti and XS on the outs. People are only going to buy the XSi with the live view and now the T1i. Amazon's already got it for pre-order. There's a bunch of other stuff I want to talk about with the T1i but I save it for my blog. :)

Other things of interest:

Tamron's releasing a new wide angle lens. It's gona' be sweet.

McDonald’s sponsoring a new group on Flickr. But you better read that fine print.

Will Tasha Ford finally get her video camera back? Um..yeah, there's three different links. So you can read the whole story.

What, Yahoo's CEO doesn't even use his most popular site?

Zach Arias' a critiquing. Warning you may feel really crudy towards your own photography. I know I did.

If your not reading Dave your missing out on some awesome photo's of NYC.

And if your not following Chase Jarvis on twitter or facebook. Do it.

And this...this is just unexplainable.

Singing in the rain

It rained all day here today.  And I forgot to bring my umbrella to school.  So I got re-wet as I walked to each class.  4 times.

Aside from that, I shot a dress rehearsal for a dance concert tonight, and
was quite pleased with the resulting chemistry between my camera and the wonderful people on stage.  They just clicked.  I didn't even see that pun coming, so I doubt any of you did.

A Beach. With Clouds.

Wow guys, sorry for the absence.  Tim and I were both at the beach for the weekend.  We've got pictures, which I'm sure some of you have seen on Facebook.  We'll have photos up on our respective blogs.  So don't worry, we are alive.

Dive Bomb

So, epic fail on my part.  I was in Utah last week for spring break, and it hit me on Saturday that my day had come and gone.  I figured I would do it on Sunday when I got back, and then I got stuck in Atlanta airport for 6 hours and forgot about it again until Tuesday, at which point I figured I had pretty much missed the bus.  Excuses aside, here are several photos from the aforementioned trip last week.

Photo #1 was a panorama I put together from 4 different shots of the view from the top of a mountain I climbed.

All 4 had the same exposure

just another brick in the wall

wall

And all of a sudden I was like OHSNAP
and this happened.

brick in the wall fun

cuz the bricks were white on the cd/movie.
get it? xD
and pink, because...
well.
Pink Floyd.
it was just for fun :] so i know its not very good but it had to be done. :P
i should have layered the pink over the sky instead or something. and then changed the opacity a little so it was less fake looking but im too lazy to go re-do the stupid thing. its my bed time :P

I wish I had a brick wall in my house somewhere.
the possibilities would be endless.
then id post 405849058 pictures of brick walls xD

ANYWAYS

EXIF:

f stop = f/10
exposure = 1/200
ISO = 400
Focal length = 18mm

then for the first one i did the usual curves and sharpening. i know everyone (including me) always posts old looking pictures like that but i like the affect it gives xD i dont know. i need to break my addiction to curves :P
anyways
for the second one i inverted the color and messed around with curves
then since the sky was all one color i dropped in some pink and smudged the edges of the building so it looked better. ish. lol.

its too late to apologize

timmy

BUT IM SORRY xD
I totally forgot it was my day.
Last night I was laying in bed trying to sleep, it must have been like 12. (I started reading at night to try and make me sleepy cuz I'm this weird sleeping pattern right now, lol) and it hit me. Literally in the middle of the night, lol. (weird how that happens...) And I went something like OH CRAP ITS WEDNESDAY in my head and I couldnt sleep because it was bugging me. because I didnt even think about it all day. It was sad.
xD

So yeah. :]
Anyways, EXIF info:
(what does that stand for anyways?)

Exposure: 1/20
f-stop: f/9
ISO: 200
Focal Length: 42mm
and flash did go off, but its at the lowest setting, and so did my spiffy new lights :D
When i use my lights I HAVE to use Manual mode so its kind of dragging me out of my shell which is obviously a good thing :P
And I sharpened in gimp and used one of my programmed curve settings that I creatively titled "yellowy" xD Im a genius
