Life vr.1

Life vr.2

Life's a voyage that's homeward bound.
Herman Melville

Versions 1 and 2.

Totally worth seeing BIG, BIG.

Canon 350, 28-105mm f3.5-4.5
focal: 28mm
aperture: f3.5
shutter: 1/500
ISO: 100
time: 2/16/09, 2:57:13 PM

1st: converted to cyanotype using split toning, added two textures and a gradient.
2nd: used split toning, dodged the front door and bushes, and added two textures.

If you have GIMP and you want the .xcf file, leave a comment with your email, and I'll gladly sent it your way.

  1. Seriously, these are the two coolest images I've seen on this blog yet. Good work man!

    (I'm not joking)

  2. Yeah. The cyanotype one is astounding. I love the frame work. These are great!

  3. I don't know anything about the cyanotype or GIMP..
    but the pictures are great!!!

  4. I like what the cyanotype did to the sky in the first one. Hauntingly beautiful kind of feel.

I've never played with cyanotypes or split toning, but it definitely works with this image.

  5. Actually that's not what the sky looked like. The sky here was pure white. So, the first of the layers I added was switched to multiply. Then I overlayed the second layer. If you'd like the "sky" texture I'd be glad to email it in your direction.

  6. Brian do you think you could email me the sky texture? Thanks bro...
