Random shots taken with my (new) Canon 70-200mm

Last week, I bought my first canon L series lens. I did my home work on the 70-200mm I bought. I ended up getting the Canon EF 70-200mm f/4 L USM! It works so well, and it is substantially lighter in weight then the daddy in the 70-200mm family (70-200mm f/2.8 L IS) It is a little shaky at 200mm with out IS, but for $1150 more for the Image Stabilizer feature, I think I'll save my money and just be really steady. This lens handles lens flair really well, and having a constant aperture is really really nice. I have one other lens that is constant aperture and love it! I can't wait to do a real portrait shoot with it, I got it mainly for that reason and to use outdoors.

I'm lacking in a title for now because its a picture of a lawn mower and I have no idea what to call it.
Canon 350, 28-105mm
focal: 43mm
aperture: f5.0
shutter: 1/80 sec
ISO: 100
Genesis 200 w/umbrella
edit: This was really fun to make. I took 4 shots (w/ the camera on a tripod) and moved my strobe around the lawn mower. Then combined them together.
Hmm, guess I should also say where I placed the lights. Well...
1st: Camera left-directly in front of the mower.
2nd: Camera right-focused on the back tire.
3rd:Camera right-focused towards the front landing on the lettering.
4th. Camera right-placed to lighten the background.
It took me about 2 hours to edit. So, if you see any miss-placed lighting (or as Bob Ross calls it, God light) let me know. I really want to perfect this technique.
Off topic now, but how would you guys like to try a themed week? You know where we pick a subject and all take a picture based on that. Like we did last summer when we all took a self portrait and posted on the same day for project 365. Except this time we wouldn't be posting on the same day for obvious reasons. ;)
Let me know what you think?

Blue Moon
This is an HDR I did of the football stadium the other night.

18mm | f4.5 | ISO 400
I bracketed 5 exposures at 1 stop intervals, then I combined it into an HDR in photoshop.
Adjusted the color levels and saturations in Aperture.

Old town

For those of you who don't know, "old town" is a historic neighborhood in downtown Portland.

I took this while on a shoot for a client. And no it was not portrait work. The lady who started Saturday Market back in 1974 wanted me to photograph the new site for the market, yes Saturday Market is not in Skidmore/under the Burnside Bridge anymore. It has moved across the street into waterfront park. I personally like the change. So Jannette Spencer (the founder of the market) is making a book and wanted me to take photos for it, of the new site.
Busy weekend; I worked over 12 hours on Saturday both doing this and working with my dad doing sound for an auction.

Stage Light
This is at my church, believe it or not. We rented some moving intelligent heads (lights) for one service, just to keep it real like that. I volunteer for the church, so I spent most of my weekend setting these puppies up, then programming them to move around, flash, and change color in time with the song.It was intense. Like camping. Sorry for the bad pun that only really works when spoken :p

Hey guess what...
The Columbia River Gorge that's what!!!

These were taken from the Washington side. The first photo I was nearly hanging of the edge of a 1100ft cliff to get it! It was crazy! For reals too, just look at the little tiny house in the bottom right corner.
It was fun times!
#1 ISO 100, 1/125th at f/11
#2 Bridge won't tell me the file info at the moment, it's after 11:00pm and I'm really tired. So no info on that one right now. Sorry :/

Protest
I love the contrast between these two.
Technically this is pt3.
Parts 1,2
Canon 350, 28-105mm
focal: varying mm's
aperture: f11
shutter: 1/320 sec
ISO: 400
This was part of the Tax Day Tea Parties being held all over the country on April 15.
I'm going to optimistic and say there were about 600 people there, and about 50 of them were photographers. No joke.

Can you feel the love tonight?
I was recently in downtown Tallahassee in the eve shooting something for the paper, and couldn't help but notice how beautiful the sky was in the 10 minutes between sunset and moonrise. It brought tears to my eyes. Figuratively speaking, of course.
